10) The New Jerusalem
The eternal home of the saved
Revelation concludes with a glorious vision of the New Jerusalem, the eternal home of the saved. After all the prophecies of judgment, God presents the final hope: to live forever with Him.
The Holy City
From where does the New Jerusalem descend?
What is the city compared to?
God with Men
Where will God dwell?
What will God wipe away?
What will no longer exist?
“The New Jerusalem will be the eternal home of the redeemed. There will be no more sin, death, or pain. God will dwell with His people forever.” — Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 676
The Beauty of the City
What are the walls of the city made of?
What are the gates of the city made of?
Why is there no temple in the city?
The River and the Tree of Life
What flows from God's throne?
Who will be able to enter the city?
And Now?
The New Jerusalem is our hope:
- God with us: He will dwell with His people
- No more pain: Death and tears will no longer exist
- Indescribable beauty: Gold, pearls, precious stones
- Eternal life: Access to the tree of life
My Decision
I desire to dwell in the New Jerusalem with God forever. I accept Jesus as my Savior and choose to keep His commandments to have the right to the tree of life. I await with hope the fulfillment of this glorious promise.
