Grace does not cancel God's law

Grace saves the sinner and transforms his relationship with obedience, without turning the law into a means of salvation.

Grace and law are often set against each other as enemies. The Bible presents a deeper relationship. Grace saves the sinner; the law reveals God’s will and shows what a life of love looks like.

The problem is not in the law, but in the wrong use of it. When someone tries to justify himself by obedience, he turns the law into something it was never called to be.

Legalism distorts obedience

Legalism is not taking God seriously. It is trying to use obedience as currency for acceptance. This weakens the gospel because it moves trust from Christ to human performance.

True obedience is born from another place: gratitude, faith, and love for God.

Permissiveness distorts grace

It is also an error to use grace as an excuse to remain in sin. Christ did not die to leave the human being comfortable in rebellion. He saves in order to restore.

Grace forgives and transforms. It writes God’s will on the heart and teaches a new way to live.
